Step 3 โ Distilled water (HโO): hydrogen and oxygen chemically combined in a fixed 2:1 atomic ratio, with properties unlike its constituent gases. Therefore it is a compound.
Step 4 โ Brass: an alloy of copper and zinc in variable proportions, separable by physical means (its components keep their identity). Therefore it is a mixture (homogeneous).
